Festival for 3 million people!

The highlight of the ECONOMICAL FORUM this month (www . forumspb . com) was the SCARLET SAILS FESTIVAL (school graduation) with more then 3 million people on the streets (see some fantastic pictures below). You can now also enjoy CIRQUE DU SOLEI who will now perform from July - November in St. Petersburg, Kazan & Moscow. In addition to the increased number of speed trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg (already services some 500.000 passengers) the existing trains between St. Petersburg - Helsinki will be replaced by the speed train ALEGRA from July 1st.

Winter in St.Petersburg

If you ask foreigners what season of the year they associate with Russia, they will most probably answer "WINTER"! It is truly a magical season appearing like a fairytale with marvelous palaces, cathedrals and in addition, a playground for different outdoor winter activities. As it gets dark quite early in the Russian winter - it is also a time for fireworks which can be placed even in the city center. By tradition, on all festivals (summer & winter) a firework show is a must and a beautiful addition to the dark skies. Big and small, single-colored and multi-colored as an pictural enjoyment for both young and old.

New Year on January 13th!

Thought about a corporate New Year's party on working days? The Russian Orthodox New Year is an informal traditional Russian Orthodox holiday by the Julian calendar. The Old New Year falls on January 13th to 14th and prior this Russians celebrate Christmas on January 7th. Although New Year unlike Christmas is not religious, it is still celebrated twice and during the actual New Year Father Frost and the Snow maiden is arriving bringing presents for the children. For many this is a nostalgic family holiday ending the New Year holiday cycle with traditional meals, singing and celebratory drinking.
